Here he is trying to get me to quit taking his picture. Just moments before this was taken, he was contentedly cradling the Sprite and watching Cartoon Network. And also it's past his bedtime. So that makes me the Best Mom Ever! Right?

TMNT Wednesday
They went to see "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" today. The Child has been looking forward to it for weeks! As soon as they walked in the door, he was hollering for me and wanted to tell me all about the turtles and the monsters. And also his souvenir. A big ol' Sprite. He's been clutching it and drinking from that thing all day long. They also had popcorn.

Where is your underwear?
The Child is now so against using the potty that he spontaneously bursts into protests.
This morning we'd been trying to convince him to try to use the potty, and he wasn't having any of it. So we left him alone.
Later he was talking to himself and said, "I don't want to use the potty. I don't want to. uh-uh."
In other news, my middle sister, affectionately known as G-G, is a RA now in my old dorm. She told us at lunch yesterday the story of one of her residents getting arrested!
This resident stole a girls' purse out of her room and used the one credit card that they forgot to cancel to buy a thousand dollars worth of underwear at Victoria's Secret. Then she had it delivered to her at her school address, with her real name and everything.
My favorite part of the story is that the officers that came to arrest her needed the underwear as evidence, so the girl was angrily pulling it all out of her dresser, and stolen underwear was flying everywhere!
Even though it's awful, it's the funniest thing ever.

Busy, yet Satisfying Saturday
The Monkey went to the Fam's last night! They invited him over because Callie is playing in the orchestra for her school play, and they wanted to take him to see it.
We went out with Naomi and Micheal, for Mexican food and to Barnes. It was so great!
And this morning, I am just soaking up the silence and giving myself some grace on the housework that needs to be done.
I'm picking him up at noon-ish, then going to work, then going out with Favorite to do wedding stuff, then my baby sister is coming over for the evening because she doesn't like to be at home alone.
Tomorrow's pretty busy, too. Church in the morning, and then I think I'm going to run some errands in the afternoon.
OH, and it's one week until Spring Break! I may have to start a countdown!

Play Day
We went to Wonder Place today with some new friends, and it was really fun! We also got our hands stamped and went back after work. It was a little pricey ($7 each) and SAHM-ville, but the play stuff was cool, interactive and imaginative, the other kids were under control and, best of all, it wasn't a sensory overload for the Monkey.
I wish I had brought my camera, though. The Monkey was so cute wearing his smock to play in the water, and he was having a lot of fun playing in the sand table.
And that's all I have to say. I need a nap.

Feeding the Addiction
If you've ever met my child, you've probably heard him say, "A more Tinkerbell!"
As of yesterday, the only place he could get a Tinkerbell (aka the Peter Pan movie) fix was at the Fam's house. Interestingly, he didn't watch it there very often.
Last night, we bought him his very own copy.
All day today he asked me, "More Tinkerbell, Mama?"
I told him that he could watch Tinkerbell after work, after lunch and after Rest Time.
The first thing he said to me when I told him he could get up from his Rest was, "NOW Tinkerbell, Mama?"
I suspect that the anticipation was what kept him from falling asleep, but at least I had an hour of silence.
And this is the portrait of him thoroughly disgusted at getting his picture taken, but thoroughly enjoying finally watching Tinkerbell.

p.s.- the shirt is so cute. It says "Hello my name is Trouble" My cousin's little boy (cutest thing ever!) had this shirt at Christmas and we couldn't resist copying them. When the Monkey put it on this morning, I had to tell him what it said, and then spell it out because he wanted to know what all the letters were.

Fish Watch '07
We are down to one.
The Child saw the last one and was all, "Oh! That one's laying down!"
And we were all, "Yeah, buddy, that one's taking a nap."
Well we did say that but then we told him that it had died. He took it pretty well. Since he had no idea what we were talking about, and we didn't elaborate.

Rest
This weekend, the Child went and spent the night at the fam's house, and I had my first day off in forever! I didn't do anything! No parenting, no housework, no work. It was so great. I painted my nails, I watched my movie, I worked on some art pieces I'm trying to get finished, and, best of all, I reveled in the SILENCE!

This one's for you, Ames
This afternoon I was putting away clothes. The Monkey was playing on the bed. He'd fall over, all dramatically, and I would pretend to cry until he popped back up again. Wash, rinse, repeat.
I was getting tired of the game, so when he fell over, I said, "Oh no! Not my Xander! Somebody dooo something!"
And he said, "Oh yeah, like Toy Story!"
