Well... I'm moving up in the world. I'm officially having midwife visits every two weeks instead of every month.
I had an appointment today! Today was my gestational diabetes test (drinking that awful drink and then drawing blood an hour later- fun!) and an anemia test.
And, once again, the baby was not co-operating with the doppler thingy to find its heartbeat! My midwife was even able to feel it kicking and squirming. I'm thinking that my mom should start coming regularly to my appointments- apparently she can make it behave!

Already with the Sassiness
The other day, when RJ got home from work, I was laying on the bed, reading.
He came in, and lay down with his head resting on my belly.
And the baby kicked him. In the head.
It was really, really funny!
(Disclaimer: I don't really think it's sassiness. I'm just joking! I'm not one of those people who think children are rebelling even in the womb!)

Baby update
Midwife appointment today! Things are good!
My mom was able to come with us, which was great. Ironically, though, today was the first time that the baby has been cooperative with finding and counting its heartbeat.
Oh, and I skipped a week of pregnancy somewhere. I thought I was 25 weeks. I'm 26.

Daily Accomplishments
It's the little things right now that really make me feel like I've done something in the day...
1- cleaned out the spare room closet enough to move all of RJ's clothes in there. (that's right- we don't share a closet! I kicked him out of my closet while he was deployed. ) Re- hung some of his suits and dress shirts and re-folded his uniforms.
2- put some stuff from the spare room closet into the children's closet.
3- went through the Child's baby things and pulled out stuff to use for the new Bean.
4- got rid of all the stuff at the end of the bed, including the bench that we had there. It makes our room look huge!
5- moved my drawers to another wall.
6- forgot that I said that I'd go to work. So RJ's going instead. After his make-up drill. I feel really bad about this one.
7- ironed an antique runner that I put on top of my chest of drawers.
8- ironed, trimmed, framed and hung a cross-stitch thingy that I finished last week... after several years of working on it.

I Miss...
the darkroom. A lot.
The digital camera just isn't the same. It's super convenient. Non-toxic. I love photoshop. But none of that really compares to the gloom and smell and process of the darkroom.
Plus, I'm having a hard time actually taking photos. But then I look through my photos, and find a picture like this...

...and it gives me hope that I'll get in the groove again!

Toys, Toys, Toys
Well, this is interesting.

Accomplishments for the day
1. Made oatmeal raisin cookies. Let the Child decorate with assorted sprinkles. He insisted on using every kind we had on every single cookie. Also, we talked about measuring. He's been on a measuring kick lately.
2. Re-arranged the Child's room to make some space for baby gear. We're putting the baby's clothes and diapers and changing table and whatnot in there. Also, we put out his road rug and put up his glow-in-the-dark stars.
3. Made a plan to get Christmas and baby stuff out of storage, and to switch out the closets. I'm putting RJ's closet in the spare room so that the children's closet can be for children's things (and a little bit of storage).

We got the Jetta back yesterday! Very exciting! It looks so smooth and shiny and new! They even cleaned out the inside!
It's just nice to have my little car back.
Also, today is RJ's very first official drill with his new unit. I texted him a little bit ago to see how it was going, and he wrote back, "Just been sitting around. Like always. :)" Nice to know that some things don't change much.
In baby news: it's getting stronger. However, my hips and pelvis have been absolutely killing me. It's really frustrating. I'm glad that things get wonky and stretchy, but I wish it could wait a few more months!
In Monkey news: We've officially switched to grade 1 math. I felt that he wasn't being challenged enough by what we were doing, and I was getting frustrated with it. The first lesson in grade 1 was stacking blocks to count to five, then unstacking them to count backwards from five. So I'm not worried that it'll be too hard. If it is, we can just slow down. Plus, the grade 1 has worksheets, which he really loves to do!
It's just nice to have my little car back.
