Bugtoberfest

We went, on what seems to be the last nice-weather Saturday of the year, to Bugtoberfest.  We picked up my sister on the way and she spent the day outside with us.  RJ entered his car, and won in his class!  Nevermind that he was the only entry in his class.  It was a good day.

Delicious pictures

The Baby.  Crawling.  Her newest trick?  Pulling up.  And eating.  (I don't know why this picture uploaded sideways!)

There was a thunderstorm the other night.  This is what happened.

And so it begins...

Remember that baby that I had 20 weeks and five days ago?

Remember this?

And this?

Well, this is her now...

And that baby is crawling. Yes, crawling. I'm girding my loins and preparing for months of redirection and babyproofing.

The Newest News...

We're taking an official break from school untill we start First Grade on September 1. We've taken things kind of easy since the Baby was born, but haven't taken a deliberate break.

We've decided on our cirriculum for 1st grade. It's not much of a change, but we're adding things in. Christian Light's Learning to Read (we're about 1/2 way through already) and Language Arts. Saxon 1 math, which we've already started. Rosetta Stone for language. Haven't decided which one, yet. The Story of the World for some history. And I'm going to poke around in Barnes and Noble's workbooks section for some fun sciency things to do.

Homeschooling paperwork is due by Friday. I've got it all filled out, just have to get it over to the office!

And, the Biggest News... The Child is going to be a Cub Scout this year! Very Exciting! He's most excited about going swimming and camping.

As for the Baby... She's super chubby and rolling/scooting all over the place.

Bathroom Makeover

The bathroom is the first room in the house we re-did.
Here's the old wall paper. I think it's the same paper from when the house was built. There was nothing under it but drywall.

It peeled right off- so satisfying!

The Monkey helped.

Big hole in the wall where the tile toilet paper holder was. The Monkey complained about the lack of mirror. He said, "I need to see my face while I wash my hands!"

Our friend Dave did a lot of work in here for us. He was great!

After! We painted it a light turquoise color. It feels very clean and bright after that brownish wallpaper.

I don't have pictures of the rest- we put in a new light, new TP holder, new hooks for towels and knobs on drawers and cabinets. Now all I need is to decide what to put on the walls. I'm thinking something black and white.

Next project- painting the front room! We're planning on moving our couches and TV in there, too, and making the back room our play room.

Picture Thursday

Check out those eyelashes!

Silly Monkeys! Please note her diaper cover- we had to get new ones, because she's outgrown her others.

He picked at his bellybutton, and it bled. We slapped some neosporin and a bandaid on it. Later, he was complaining that the bandaid wasn't staying down, so he used scotch tape to keep it in place.

He's laughing, she's giving the hairy eyeball.

I love this!!

"More than 200 dancers were performing their version of "Do Re Mi", in the Central Station of Antwerp. with just 2 rehearsals they created this amazing stunt! Those 4 fantastic minutes started the 23 of march 2009, 08:00 AM. It is a promotion stunt for a Belgian television program, where they are looking for someone to play the leading role, in the musical of "The Sound of Music"'

Homeowners!

We are now the proud owners of seven trees, eleven doors (including one fake one!), six windows, four sinks, five closets, and one roof!

And, yes, I've already been to look at paint colors!

Pictures!

RJ didn't have to shave for a whole two months! I liked the beard.

Baby and her Bow. She's not very happy about it, though. If you look up behind her, the Boy is on the top of the bleachers!

Boy and his construction. He'll work on this for hours!

After the bath in her bear towel.

Sleepy girl. I love those socks!

Confessions

Managing the children's clothes stresses me out.

I saved all of the Child's clothes, thinking that they'd be used again.
hahahahahaha!
We've used some of them- the gender neutral stuff. And I'm saving the fun t-shirts (Star Wars, band shirts, etc...) and the jeans for the Baby to wear.

Now, though, I'm going through all of his old clothes and I'm going to either give them away or re-sell a lot of them. Not everything, but a lot!

The problem with the Child is that he never really grows out of things. Sure, they'll get too short, but never too tight. So sorting through clothes with him is a battle of me telling him to try a shirt on, him trying it on while I'm looking through other clothes, him declaring that it fits and taking it off before I have a chance to really decide if it fits. Getting rid of clothes that he really loves sends him into a spiral of grief and despair and tears and pleading.

And with the Baby, she's outgrowing her newborn and 0-3 month clothes, so I'm trying to weed out what doesn't fit her anymore, and get out the stuff that will fit her soon. All the while trying to make sure that she wears the things that I really love.

And after that, it's the sorting of clothes to decide what to keep and what to get rid of. It makes me crazy! It's like it's a never-ending cycle of sorting through clothes!

Hiccups...again

another movie for Grandpa

Seriously, she gets the hiccups all day long. At least she's not in the womb anymore- that was so irritating!

Easter Yoda

The Monkey and the Baby in her Easter dress.

In other news... I think the baby resembles Yoda.

It's the big cheeks/small nose/small chin combo.

See it?

Maybe this will help...
